Found you!

(from top to bottom: 7895, 0100, 7238, 1010).
I decided to order color 7238 and 0100. The dark green is hardly a green at all. It’s very grey and dark brown.

from left to right: 8910, 8400, 7824, 8555, 8914, 7822.
Tomorrow I’ll start swatching and felting.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I proudly present: Absorba the great bathmat
Pattern: Absorba from Mason-Dixon Knitting by Kay Gardiner and Ann Meador Shayne
Yarn: Coast Lyric 8/8 in darkblue, lightblue, white (3 balls each) and yellow (1 ball).
Needles: Addi Turbo circ 8.0mm
Modification: I basically used the instructions for log cabin and calculated the lenght and width of the stripes to fit my needs.
And my feet will never get cold again after showering
I discovered lately that taking good pictures of knitted stuff is hard but I’ll try to post some pics tomorrow.
About the progress: I finished the bibs in time, I made two: the one with the flower and another one just alternating stripes in dark-blue, light-blue, white, and yellow in garter stich. And then I had a ton of cheap cotton-yarn left over so I decided to knit “Absorba the great” form the Mason-Dixon book. I used three strands of yarn held together in dark-blue, light-blue and white and the largest needle I have (I don’t know the size I have to measure). It was a quick knit and I finished it yesterday and now it’s lying in front of the shower and my feet won’t get cold any more.
The petunia is going slowly I’m a little bit bored and the yarn is splitty splitterson itself. But for 1 Euro a ball I’m not really complaining. I picked it up yesterday and begun the second pattern repeat. Yesterday I also read the instructions for finishing more carefully and found out that you’re supposed to line only the bottom but I think I’ll line the whole bag because I don’t like pens sticking out of my bags and I always carry at least a pencil with me. I have a black cheap cotton lying around but I don’t like black lining because it makes it hard to find your stuff in the bag. I have to think about it.
Enough for today I’ll go and take some pics to show.
I’ ve started two new projects:
This is a bib for a friend of mine or better the daughter of this friend ![]()
I’m invited to their ‘we have a new appartment’ party tomorrow and I have to finish it tonight which isn’t a problem it’s very fast knitting, although it’s my first intarsia with cotton. I’ll post more details soon.
The other project I’ve started is the Petunia Tote from IWK spring 07
in green of course. I bought the yarn second hand from a woman I barely know from a sewing forum (german) and it’s nice but stinks like an old cellar full of smoke. I let it lying around for a while and it’s ok now but first thing I’ll do when it’s finished is washing washing washing.
The pattern is fun, nearly mindless stockinette in the round, but due to the pattern you have to pay a little attention which makes it less boring.
I finished the Josephine Top from IWK summer 07 and I like it very much.
Yarn: Lang Yarns Delta, (50% cotton, 50% microfibre, 123m/50g)
source: stash
Needles: 3.5mm and 3mm Addi Turbo circ
Modifications: Added 2cm between “holes-row” after lace/rib part and V-neck for better fitting.
Added two more short rows in the mini sleeves. I knitted it according to the pattern and it was shorter than in the picture, I checked the pattern and I think there is a mistake. You need to add ad least a pair of short rows to get the same look.
These pictures were taken with a different color in the cord, but I didn’t like it and I made another one.
Yes I know I got a sunburn on sunday, but it’s already better now.
Yesterday I received a copie of IWK Fall 2005, which I ebayed last week. I’m planning to knit the Union Market Square Pullover for myself.
The yarn will be Drops Alpaca. In green of course
and cream as contrast color. Drops Alpaca is really cheap here. It’s 3.50 Euro thats about 4.70 Dollar (US). The only remaining problem is: There are two greens available — no. 7238 and no. 7895 — and I can’t decide which one is the one.
Unfortunately Drops is not available at my LYS, I have to order it so I fear I have to bite into the acerbity apple (german saying similar to “to swallow a bitter pill”) and pay extra shipping costs.
